Jerry Matzen was born in California and moved to Nevis, Minnesota is a veteran carver.  He started carving in the early 1980’s. His work has been featured in the book, THE FISH DECOY, Volume 3 by Art,Brad,& Scott Kimball. Jerry now resides in Long Beach, Washington and continues to carve. He was taught to carve by the late Otto Bishop of Osage, MN. Otto’s fish are prime examples of early folk art fish. Jerry carries on Otto’s folk art fish tradition but has his own style and continues to go different directions with his fish. He’s constantly trying new approaches and techniques to make his fish stand out. His fish are truly functional folk art with his own individual flair. See something you like?
