Syrus Young is from Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin and was born in 1967. Sryus got started carving by watching his father, Tom Young Sr, and his Uncle Harold Potts Sr. and cousin Kenneth “Buddy” Wayman Sr. He enjoyed how their fish looked and swam. From start to finish he hand carves his fish and does not use electric tools for shaping or sanding.
He makes jig sticks and uses them to test his fish out before using them. His decoys are made for friends and family and his own personal use. Family brings him wood and lets him know what they want him to make.
