Oscar Peterson”Pelee”
11/14/87 – 10/07/51

Oscar Peterson came from Cadillac, Michigan, is of Swedish Immigrant heritage, and was born in 1887. He became involved as a young boy with fish decoys and spanned about 50 years in carving with an originality that was to be unique to the craft.  Peterson’s fish decoys are highly sought after and prized in anyone’s collection. It has been reported that he carved over 100,000 fish, but most believe the number to be around 10000 with about 1000 to 1500 still in existence.
