Lorry Huested was born in 1937 and hails from Newaygo, Michigan.
Some of the signatures look like Larry or Loary, but that is the paint talking.
Lorry got started carving when
“I bought some basic books on carving. I started by carving ducks, then song
birds, then fish decoys, and now I have started carving fishing lures..most of the
fish decoys I try to make look natural as much as I can. I wood burn scales on
the decoy then hand paint, then dip them in a finish several times giving them a
wet look..most of what I know has come from reading and thru trial and error.”
Lorry went on to tell me “I belong to no organizations, have received no awards, and no one else in my family
carves.. “
