Frank Hanke was from Stockbridge, Wisconsin. He was of German heritage and also lived in Brothertown, Calumet, Wisconsin in the early 1900s. He was a painter by trade. He was the son of Frank Hanke Sr., who immigrated to the USA around 1888.
