Tom Winter, carver of fish and duck decoys, moved to Menominee, MI three (2006) years ago. He signs his name or marks his decoys with mark – 44. He weighs his fish decoys with lead so they are usable decoys, not just for decorations. He also makes copper decoys, which are outstanding. He makes “dioramas” – putting a rod or reel or sand shoe or snowshoe or a creel as a background for beautifully carved fish (not decoys). His fish on birch bark or walnut, etc., plaques are greatly sought after.
