Jim Slack was born in 1941 in Pekin Illinois. Jim and his wife Pat names are normally signed on the bottom of the Shorebirds and Jim has been carving about 30 years (2009). Jim primarily carved duck and shorebird decoys. Over the years he did carve a fair number of fish decoys. Many of them looked like fish, however, he also carved some that looked like a duck (slider). He filled them with lead and also attached two duck shaped feet on swivels that were made from poured lead.
Unusual to have lead feet, most sliders would have metal feet.
